My first job after graduating was with the International Computers LtD, the only British Computer company at the time based in Kidsgrove in Staffordshire. I lived with two other fellows in a house in a quaint best kept village of Alsager not far from Kidsgrove. I was a design engineer tasked with development of a mass storage device. The projects were always being shelved after much effort had been expended in the development which was frustrating as nothing ever came to fruition. I left to pursue a PhD in Coventry.
